What is Microdiscectomy?
Microdiscectomy is a surgical procedure for the treatment of herniated spinal discs in the lumbar and cervical spine, which compress the nerves and cause pain, numbness and muscle weakness. In this procedure, only the herniated parts of the discs are removed with microsurgical techniques, thus preserving healthy tissues. How is microdiscectomy performed?

• Muscle Weakness:

Treatment Methods
Although microdiscectomy is a surgical procedure, it is usually preferred when other conservative treatment methods are inadequate. In the first stage, patients are usually recommended physical therapy, medication and epidural injections. If these methods are not successful and the patient’s quality of life is severely affected, microdiscectomy may be recommended.
